Roasting

ARSAGA’S IS YOUR LOCAL ROASTER OF FINE COFFEES

Coffee beans are one of the world’s most traded commodities, second only to oil.  Arabica coffee beans, the best of all the world’s coffees, represent only 20% of the available coffee grown and sold.  Arsaga’s buys only Arabica beans and roasts them carefully, so that none of the delicate flavor nuances are lost.

Good coffee is often compared to fine wine and said to have characteristics of brightness, good body, balanced acidity, fruity or floral notes, and more.  How a coffee is roasted determines whether or not you will be able to taste those nuanced characteristics in your cup of morning coffee. Most of our coffees are not dark roasted.  This is because the intense carbonization of dark roasting destroys many of the delicate flavor characteristics of these highly prized coffee beans, sending them up in smoke, rather than into your cup.  If a coffee benefits from a darker roast, we will make the decision to increase the roasting time to enhance its flavor.  Often, after careful cupping, we will choose a lighter roast to best showcase a particular bean.

We hope you can taste and appreciate the difference.

ABOUT BREWING THE BEST CUP

To enjoy our coffees at their best, please be sure to brew them with fresh, filtered water.  The perfect ratio of beans per cup it two tablespoons (less and you get a watery, thin tasting drink). The best way to release their full flavor is to grind them just before brewing.  If you don’t have a good burr grinder, then let us grind your coffee for your specific brewing method (we recommend a French press), and buy them fresh from us weekly.

BLENDS

Espresso – Extremely bold. A sweet, complex espresso experience with a long, soft aftertaste. Perfect as a straight shot or blended with creamy foamed milk for a classic Italian cappuccino or latte.

(Organic) Farmer’s Market Blend – A combination of Organic Mexican and Organic Ethiopian beans, this blend gives the mellow, nutty Mexican a boost of fruit and spice that is the signature of Ethiopian coffees. Medium roasted and full bodied.

House Blend – A mixture of Colombian, El Salvador, organic Mexican, and French Roast, is our most popular blend. It combines the sweet, earthy notes of a dark roasted Colombian and smoky French Roast with the bright flavors of the El Salvador, and the roasted nut voluptuousness of the Mexican to give it a very well rounded and rich delivery, deep and full bodied.

Summer Blend – A very bright combination of sweet El Salvador and earthy Sumatra, this blend delivers a refreshingly smooth and balanced flavor with an airy body. Perfect for summer drinking.

Winter Blend - El Salvador and French Roast, blended to make the most of the bold, sweetness of the darker roasted coffee by adding some bright, high notes. Invigorating comfort for a cold winter day.
